Walking and horse riding on Exmoor is superb with something to suit all levels of ability and fitness. We are spoilt for choice with coastal footpaths, ancient woodlands, heather clad mooorlands and quiet country lanes
Our location in Porlock means we are perfectly situated for exploring the South West Coast Path and Coleridge Way directly from our doorstep.
The Coleridge Way is a 51 mile walk from Nether Stowey to Lynmouth, passing through Porlock, click here for more information.
One of our favourite walks is from our cottage to Porlock Weir, through the woods, and then returning along the coastal path. Bossington Hill, Selworthy to North Hill, Horner Woods, Webbers Post and Dunkery Beacon, Watersmeet are just a few ideas. We love to hear from you which walks you have enjoyed the most.
When visiting Porlock Weir do not miss the scenic walk via the coast path to Culbone Church, the smallest church in Britain which can only be accessed on foot.

Local companies Exmoor Adventures in Porlock and Channel Adventures in Minehead offer a wide range of activities both on the water and on the land such as mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, coasteering, rock climbing, raft building, archery, orienteering, tree climbing.
Archery, Climbing and High Ropes are available at Wimbleball Lake.
Horse Riding
As a child I was very fortunate to have my own Exmoor pony and have the opportunity to ride all over Exmoor. I may be biased by in my opinion there is nowhere quite like Exmoor National Park for providing the perfect riding off road riding opportunities.

Mountain Biking/Cycling
Exmoor is very popular for mountain biking and cycling. Mountain bike hire is available from Exmoor Adventures and Pompey’s Hire in Minehead.

Pack a picnic!
Exmoor offers an abundance of beautiful places where you can enjoy a picnic in the glorious summer sunshine, either by the sea, next to a river or in the woods or on the moors. Landacre Bridge, was a favourite picnic site when I was a child where I loved playing paddling and fishing in the river. Click here for popular picnic sites.
