Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation pleacefully situated within the historic village of Porlock, in the heart of the Exmoor National Park, West Somerset. Porlock offers an assortment of country pubs,fine restaurants and cafes where one can indulge in delicious cream teas, seafood specialities as well as traditional local fayre. Porlock has an assortment of interesting shops, museums, church and a very helpful tourist information centre. Being a village community, there are often activities taking place within the village such as carnival, duck race, fete, horse show, dog show, antique fairs, etc.

MAXWELTON (sleeps 6)

Offering a high standard of self-catering accommodation, combined with breathtaking sea views, Maxwelton offers the perfect peaceful retreat from which one can simply relax and unwind or explore the beauty of Exmoor either by car, bicycle, horse or on foot. For those wanting to get away from it all Maxwelton is situated in a peaceful location in Porlock but is only a couple of minutes walk from the village centre.

Following complete refurbishment Maxwelton offers a high standard of self contained accomodation including newly fitted kitchen (with new electric cooker), new bathroom and wc, new carpeting throughout. A log burner has been installed for those wishing to relax around a fire on cold winter evenings. Having been owned by the family for over 25 years we have many happy memories of enjoyable times spent here and have therefore furnished it to a high standard to make it a comfortable homely environment for ourselves as well as for our guests.

Because the property is built on a hillside, the living accommodation for Maxwelton is upstairs.

Maxwelton sleeps 6 plus a travel cot if required. As mentioned above, Bracken which is the downstairs of the property is also available for rent. Maxwelton's accommodation comprises:-

  • Bedroom 1 - 4 poster double bed, sea views, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside drawers, en-suite toilet/wash basin
  • Bedroom 2 - Super King bed, garden view, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside drawers
  • Bedroom 3 Twin bedded room (2 single beds which can be combined to make a super king bed on request), under bed drawers, wardrobe, bedside drawers
  • Large lounge/dining room with log burning stove, piano, Freeview TV/DVD player, comfortable leather lounge furniture, dining table seating 6. Stunning views of both the sea and garden. Patio doors give views to patio, BBQ area and garden.
  • Newly fitted Kitchen - Rayburn (oil fired), electric cooker, microwave, breakfast bar seating two, plenty of work surfaces - garden and sea views
  • Lobby (immediately off kitchen) - contains washing machine, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, and gives access to patio/garden
  • Newly fitted Bathroom - bath, shower, wc and washhand basin
  • Large private enclosed garden - secluded patio which is a real sun trap with seating for 6 with barbeque. Additional small patio at top of garden from which there are stunning views of Porlock Bay/Hurlestone Point. Retractable washing line. Outside tap and hose.
  • Additional Toilet with wash basin located at bottom of the stairs
  • Off road car parking directly in front of the property (1 space allocated to Maxwelton and 1 space allocated for Bracken)
  • Access to Maxwelton is via the front door adjacent to the car parking space in front of the house. There is a toilet downstairs, but the living accommodation is upstairs, from which one accesses the private patio and garden.

    A welcome pack, bed linen and towels are included in the price quoted. Maxwelton is heated by oil fired central heating and electricity and heating oil are included in the price quoted for Maxwelton. Travel cot, stair gate and highchair available if requested at the time of booking. (Bed linen for the cot will not be provided and visitors must bring their own).


    BRACKEN

    Bracken is a self-contained apartment located on the ground floor of Maxwelton. It has its own entrance and garden area with patio and seating for 2. There are sea views from the garden. For parties who are renting Maxwelton in conjunction with Bracken Annexe, the door linking Maxwelton to Bracken Annexe can be unlocked on request

    Accommodation in Bracken Annexe comprises:

    • Lounge/dining room with TV/DVD, dining table and chairs, coal effect electric fire, sofa bed and chair
    • Newly fitted kitchen - Electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge with freezer compartment
    • Double bedroom with newly fitted Caxton overbed storage unit and wardrobe
    • Garden with patio and seating for 2. Retractable washing line
    • Car parking space for one car
    • A welcome pack, towels and bed linen for the double bed are included in the price quoted for Bracken - if you wish to sleep on the sofa bed please supply your own bedlinen/sleeping bags.

      Please note that ELECTRICITY IS NOT INCLUDED for Bracken Annexe - there is a coin meter within the apartment.


      Maxwelton and Bracken Annexe operate a "No Smoking" Policy and no dogs or other animals are allowed unless by prior arrangement
